It will forever rank as one of the finest lunches I’ve ever eaten.  Sure, the spicy stir fry chicken, tom yum soup, and pad Thai was scrumptious for being made from the freshest of meats, seafood and vegetables, but mostly because *I* made it.  My abilities in the kitchen aren’t too shabby, but my repertoire is slim and consultation of a good recipe and strict adherence to it would only get me so far because I lacked the know-how.  Well, that is until I met Tam.

As Eastern Europe goes, you just can’t go wrong with the Dalmation Coast.  Digging into countries such as Serbia and Bosnia have been rewarding experiences for me but sometimes you just want to spent some leisurely time by the sea, and that’s where Croatia comes in.

As Serbia vies for E.U. accession, its exciting capital radiates progress and bright futures for Serbs.  But although the NATO bombs are over a decade removed from Belgrade, structural scars still dot the city and remind both resident and visitor that times such as the 1990s in this part of the world can never be easily left behind.

Iceland Airwaves 2010The world’s coolest music festival (at least one of its northernmost) is approaching rapidly.

I, for one, cannot wait for summer to be over and October to arrive having had the pleasure of attending 10 of the past 11 years of Iceland Airwaves.

Thousands of artists and music enthusiasts swoop in on Reykjavík annually, transforming this North Atlantic capital into one of the focal points of the music industry.  Fans come to see some of their buzzed-about favorites, but the greater pleasure is becoming mesmerized by an act you had never even heard of just moments before.
